Question: Describe the best trip you’ve ever taken.
Answer: I am trying to think back to a trip that I would consider “the best,” especially something more recent. Because of COVID, I’ve only been on four trips this year – and I can’t say that any of them were the best. When I think back to my childhood, can’t think of any trip that was “the best.” And in my first marriage, I’m sure there may have been one trip with the my daughters that was awesome, but can’t remember any that I would consider the best. I can remember going on a “guys” golf trip to somewhere in the south (maybe myrtle beach) and having a great time, but there wasn’t much that I remember. I know I’ve had several NACADA Region 3 Conferences that were memorable, not because of the conference, but because of the late nights spent drinking and playing games that my dear late friend Jeff Gardner would come up with. There were some EPIC games that lasted until the wee hours of the morning, even when we had to present sessions in a couple of hours! There were also a few NACADA National Conferences where the “Dicksters” would get together and spend lots and lots of hours together (by the way, “Dickster’s” got the name from our first gathering at a restaurant called “Dick’s Last Resort”). So, there were lots of trips that I would say were memorable because of the people, not because of the conference. Oh yeah…I can’t forget On Course Conferences, where I was, at one point, felt like I was part of a family. I remember Skip Downing taking me under his wing and connecting me with awesome people through his group. Yes, lot’s of memorable people and events, but nothing that I would ever consider “the best.” Every event holds a special place in my heart for one reason or another.
I had a work meeting this morning; every meeting makes me realize how much I need to make a change in my life, finding new ways to do Life Design Catalyst work in a new and different way. And I think about the things that are stopping me – which, a lot of times, is myself. For those like me, who seem to be getting in their own way to make great things happen, this article is as close to a must read as you can get:

As I read the 10 Jedi mind tricks, I believe that I have to adopt mind trick – #9: You’re at Round 1 (and your job is only to get to Round 2). I’m trying to get from my idea to my new job and there’s a WHOLE lot of steps in between that we need to do to get from point A to point B. So, just get moving…
